November 24, 2009 – NEDO (Geothermal Energy Development Department) announced that SAITEC (Saitama Industrial Technology Center) developed positive electrode material for magnesium-ion secondary battery. You can read the press release here (written in Japanese).
The following is quotation from the press release (tranlated by MgCiv staff).
SAITEC succeeded in steady electrical charge and discharge with magnesium battery for the first time in the world.
SAITEC developped metallic oxide positive electrode material doped with sulfur by an original synthesis method (combined with carbon felt elecrode and heating by micro wave). We expect capacitance of this material is equal to cobalt acid lithium for lithium-ion battery.
